My dear Ahmad,
In
your last letter, you asked me about our annual sports and athletics. Our
annual sports took place the last Monday. It was a very colorful event. The
teachers and the students assembled in the playground early in the morning. The
guest of honor inaugurated the programs. All the athletes looked active, fresh, and agile.
The
opening ceremony of the day started with one hundred races. I also took part in
it and won the third prize. I took part in slow cycling but had to cut a sorry
figure. The hurdle race, the egg race, the potato race, the sack race, the
three-legged race, and pillow fighting provided a lot of fun.
Pillow
fighting was very interesting. The students seemed to beat each other mercilessly.
They panted but had to continue in order to defeat their rivals. In the
three-legged race, the competitors took part in pairs. The inner legs of each
pair were tied with each other.
The long jump, the high jump, the triple jump, and the hammer throw provided the students with a good chance to show their mettle. We had a very jolly time during these three days. In the end, the minister gave away the prizes to the winners and the principal announced two holidays.
