Kurtz And His Unspeakable Lusts
The civilized European Kurtz went to the Congo.after he had been there for some time, he had given himself over to ‘ unspeakable rights’ had descended into bestiality. What had happened? He gave into ‘ uncontrolled lusts.’ He became a god to them, exploited them, and encouraged them to sacrifice human beings for his sake. He wants his domination over the natives for the sake of collecting ivory. He has many plans in his mind, which would ultimately make him the virtual king of that area. When Marlow finds the cabin empty, he rushes out to look for Kurtz, who has gone out to perform another ritual of sacrificing a young man. Marlow hearing the beating of drums, and sees other arrangements made for this purpose. He is horrified to see all this. He could never imagine that Kurtz would stoop so low for the sake of his lusts. Kurtz is actively perverted, and in a way equally exploited. He is enslaved by the primitive and abominable lusts.
