My dear Wasif,

I was greatly surprised to read the news of your failure. Failure is no doubt sad but, doubly so, in such circumstances. It is needless to add that I fully sympathise with you in your misfortune.

It seems the University people are perfectly indifferent to individual happiness, otherwise, they would not allow such obvious injustice to be overlooked. Imagine a boy failing by one mark! It is nothing but a case of studied neglect on the part of the examiner who would have surely detected his own mistake if he cared to reconsider his own marking. We must do something to prevent such injustice in the future.

However, I am sure you will not take it to heart and waste your time in idle lamentation. Mere worry is no remedy. If you begin to work wholeheartedly from this day, you will surely come out with flying colours next year.

Cheer up, old boy!

Ever yours,

Imran Khan.
