Science has brought the countries closer. Now, the telephone, wireless, radio and television keep us in touch the world.television and radio provides us information and entertains us. Telephone and telegraph have linked one part of the world with the other. Messages are flashed. Direct conversation can be carried on. The entire world has become a family. We just switch on a button and come to know every happening in the world.
Science has produced electricity which works as our maidservant . It heats our rooms in winter and cools them in summer. It washes our clothes. It sweeps and cleans our houses. It freezes and stores our things of use. It lights our houses. It irons our clothes and cooks our food. It runs machines in mills and factories.
Science has modernised agriculture. The man has invented machinery which sows seeds. It grows, reaps and threshes crops. We can complete the work of days in minutes. Per acre production has increased with the help of pesticides and fertilizers. Unruly rivers have been controlled by building big dams. These dams produce electricity. They also provide water to far off areas. Barren lands have been made cultivable.
Science has changed our old methods of the treatment of diseases. Fatal diseases are under control. Epidemics breakout very rarely. Surgery has worked wonders. Every part of human body can be operated upon. Even eyes, kidneys and heart can be transplanted. Nothing has remained impossible.
Computer is the greatest wonder of science. It does lengthy calculations in seconds. It can keep record for centuries. It is used in banking, business, industry, engineering, sports and many other fields of life. It has made the world a global village. It sends information or email through internet to all the corners of the world within seconds. The businessman can do transactions and dealing throughout the world. So, we can rightly call science a friend of man .
