Knowledge Is Power
' Knowledge is power' says Francis Bacon.. It is as true today as it used to be in the past. In fact, it is knowledge that distinguishes man from animals and helps him know himself, he is lord and explore the unexplored. So, it is said:
1. ‘Knowledge is that which, next virtue, truly raises one person above another.’ ( Joseph Addison)
2. 'Be curious always! Fore knowledge will not acquire. You must acquire it'. ( Sudie back)
3. ‘The fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.'( Bible)
4. ‘Knowledge is like money; the more he gets, the more he craves.'( Josh Billing)
5. ‘If you have knowledge, let others light their candles with it.' (Winston Churchill)
6. 'To know is to know that you know nothing. That is the meaning of true knowledge. '( Confucius)
7. ’Knowledge is the process of piling up facts; wisdom lies in their simplification.' ( Martin H Fischer)
8. ‘It's dangerous thing to think we know everything.’ ( Jack Kuchler)
9. ‘ Knowledge becomes wisdom only it has been put to practical use.’
10. ‘All I know is that I know nothing.' ( Socrates)
Physically, man is weaker than most of the animals. He cannot carry as heavy load and some beasts of burden. He cannot subdue lion and tiger with his bare hands. He cannot run as fast as a panther full stop he cannot see as far as the eagle. He cannot fly in the air as the birds. He has no natural weapons of defence. Still, he is the most powerful creature on the earth. He controls mighty savage beasts. All this power comes from knowledge. Knowledge is the understanding of all sciences; mental; moral and physical, and the principles that regulate them.
Man cannot run fast. But he has invented railways, buses, cars and other vehicles he can run faster than any other creature. Man cannot talk so loud as to be here across the seas and in other continents. But he has invented telegraph, telephone, phone and internet through which he can talk across the seas. Man cannot fly in the air. But he has discovered the aeroplanes, space rockets jet planes.
Man’s smelling power is weaker than that of the dog. But he has discovered machines and instruments that can tell about the odour and smell of things. Now, he has mastered the forces of nature. He has built dams and has controlled unruly rivers. Man cannot cross the deep seas. But he has invented the steamships and can go across the seas. Now machines work for for him. Electricity is his maid servant. He has conquered the moon and is trying fast to go to the Mars. In the past, there used to be man to man fight in which the weaker was always defeated or killed. Now, with the help of bumping planes, only one man can devastate vast lands and kill millions. All this is due to the power that knowledge has given man.
Knowledge of the self and others is also a great power. Knowledge helps us understanding human nature and now our own selves. It helps us understand our position in the universe. It helps us know our lord and prostrate before him. In urges to know our own weaknesses and defects and correct them. It broadens over outlook. It raises us from the deep earth to the high skies. It leads us to Allah, to recognise his messengers and to follow them. Without knowledge, man is worse than beasts. He lives in ignorance and cannot even recognise his position. In the universe not work for the guidance of others and in this way, his life proves an utter failure.
Knowledge helps us acquire wealth, rank and status. It is superior to silver and gold. It matures our wisdom. It polishes our inherent capabilities. It makes us resourceful. It encourages and emboldens us. It makes us energetic, efficient, powerful and active. It is a fact:
' A king is honoured in his own country, but a learned man is honoured everywhere. '
That is why; the companions of the holy prophet (PBUH) wherever they went. All this is power of knowledge.
