A visit to
some historical building or place is of great importance, both from academic
and general knowledge point of view. It
adds to our knowledge about the great men of the past and their great deeds. Last
Sunday, I decided to visit some historical building or place. I had
not visited the Tomb of Jahangir earlier. I talked to some of my friends to visit this
historical building or place. They
agreed with me; hence we made a programme to visit the Tomb of Jahangir.
We boarded a bus from
Gujranwala in the morning. The weather
was very fine and pleasant. Within about
two hours, we reached the main gate of the tomb.
The Tomb of
Jahangir is very grand, spacious, beautiful, charming and attractive. It is situated at Shahdara, a town, which is
about two miles away from Lahore. It is
on the other side of the Ravi River from Lahore. It has four minarets, which can be seen from a
distance. The mausoleum of Jangir is in
a park which is enclosed by a high wall. It has a main gate.
As soon as we
entered its main gate, we were pleased to see that it was well – kept. There were various kinds of flowers, flowery
plants and trees. The flowers, having
different colours, were tossing in the air. The atmosphere of the place was very fine and
pleasant. There were different kinds of green trees and flowery plants, which
were spreading their cool shade everywhere. It was indeed a very beautiful and charming
scene to look at.
We also
visited the inside of the mausoleum. It
is a very beautiful building. In its inner room, there sleeps the great Mughal
Emperor, Jahangir, in an eternal peace. Its
walls and roof have beautiful designs of various colours. It is indeed a Masterpiece of architecture. We also went up one of its minarets and
watched the city of Lahore from there. It
was a very wonderful sight of the city of Lahore.
We had some
eatables. We decided to take some rest
under the shady trees. Having taken some
rest, we ate and drank. We had then been walking through various parts of this
historical building for some time. Soon it was the evening time. The silence
and peace of the place were fascinating. At last we left the tomb. We returned to our city, Gujranwala.
To conclude,
the visits to historical buildings or places are of a great importance, both
from academic and general knowledge point of view. The visits to such historical buildings and
places inspire us to do something great for our nation and country like our
great men of the past.
