Unit 13 | Novel | The Pearl | H. P. Stewart | New English Syllabus | Class - 12 | 2026

Unit: 13

The Pearl

The Pearl

This novel tells a story that shows how powerful people can spoil relationships and a person's identity. In the beginning of this novel, the hostility of a character is described, as well as how a pearl separates him from his identity and displaces him from his home.

This novel also describes how, without any examination, a peace-loving citizen who used to work as a maid turns into a murderer and finally distances himself from his love and sympathy. And this gap deepens even more with a false testimony.

This story also shows how a person plays with the lives of others to fulfill his material desires and considers wealth to be everything.
